These children feel that there is no helping them with the experiences they have gone through or are going through and feel that suicide is the only solution. Children and adolescents who do not receive any sort of help from a psychologist or doctor, are more likely to commit suicide. In addition, one of the most prevalent reasons as to why a foster care child or adolescent is more likely to attempt suicide is because they are a victim of sexual abuse (Evans et al., 2017). Taussig concluded that suicide attempts range from in children in care which is about greater than the normal community (Taussig et al., 2014). Suicidal attempts are likely to occur in children who have previously or currently are having suicidal thoughts and children in care are at greater risk for attempting and committing suicide compared to those not in care (Katz et al., 2011). Children in care are more prone to being diagnosed with mental health disorders and very few of those children actually receive health services (Taussig et al., 2014).
